Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, how many files exist on patients being treated following factor 8 blood transfusions; and how many such files have been destroyed.

The Department does not hold information about treatments received by individual patients or the outcome of those treatments. This includes the records for anyone who has contracted infections following treatment with infected blood or blood products.

Any individual who has contracted hepatitis C or HIV due to infected blood will have been offered the most effective treatments available at the time of their diagnosis, based on expert clinical assessment, and kept under review and their treatment updated as indicated.
