To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what the cost was of maintenance on the Strategic Road Network in each of the last 10 years.

The cost of maintenance of the Strategic Road Network for each of the last 10 years is shown below. This is as reported in the Highways Agency & Highways England’s Annual reports
- 2008/09 - £912 million
- 2009/10 - £1,307 million
- 2010/11 - £833 million
- 2011/12 - £808 million
- 2012/13 - £707 million
- 2013/14 - £792 million
- 2014/15 - £981 million
- 2015/16 - £929 million
- 2016/17 - £890 million
- 2017/18 - £1,027 million
