Question to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy:
To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, what assessment he has made of the potential merits of increasing public awareness of the industrial relations records of companies.
No assessment has been made. The UK takes a voluntarist approach to industrial relations and collective bargaining issues.
Where an employer refuses to recognise any union in a workplace, the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992 Act provides for a statutory recognition procedure that gives independent unions the right to apply to the Central Arbitration Committee to be statutorily recognised for the purposes of collective bargaining.
