The Secretary of State has not received any recent representations. The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has completed an assessment of matters arising from the policing of events at Orgreave in 1984 and made decisions about whether any matters should be investigated. Having considered legal advice, the IPCC has decided not to publish the decision at this stage. As the IPCC is an independent organisation the Government has no control or influence over the date of publication of its findings. It would be premature to decide whether any further investigation is necessary in advance of publication of the IPCC’s decision.
