The UK has been a strong supporter of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) for over 25 years. During this time polio cases have reduced by more than 99 per cent. We are proud to have contributed to this achievement. In the last financial year, we provided £70 million of funding to GPEI, which will continue this important work. However, the pandemic has forced us to take tough decisions, including temporarily reducing the aid budget. Ministers are currently working with department officials to finalise ODA budget allocations for 2021-22.
