The Government was extremely impressed by the fire and rescue services response to this summer’s unprecedented wildfire incidents. The Home Office directly supports a number of specialist capabilities, such as High Volume Pumps, which were used during the incidents, and funds the National Resilience Team of firefighters who coordinated the highly effective mutual aid between fire and rescue services.

As with all responses to major incidents, the local fire and rescue services, National Resilience Assurance Team and the Home Office are looking at lessons learned to consider any ways in which performance can be improved.
