Developing Countries: Environment Protection and Water

Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, how much Official Development Assistance has been spent on (a) water supply and sanitation, (b) renewable energy and (c) general environment protection in each of the last five years.

The Statistics on International Development (SID) National Statistics report, published on the gov.uk website, provides an overview of all official UK spend on Official Development Assistance (ODA). Detailed breakdowns of 2020 ODA spend, including spend by sector, will be published in autumn 2021, therefore the most recent five years with relevant data available are 2015 to 2019.

The total UK bilateral ODA spend to the OECD defined sectors of (a) Water Supply and Sanitation, (b) Renewable Energy and c) General Environment Protection between 2015 and 2019 is set out in the table below:
