Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what assessment his Department has made of the effect on delivering the commitment made in the NHS Forward View to create sufficient capacity to transform services of underspending on workforce development by Health Education England.

As set out in the Five Year Forward View, employers are responsible for ensuring they have sufficient staff with the right skills to care for their patients.

Recognising the importance of the development and training of the existing workforce, the Department is working with Health Education England, NHS Improvement and NHS England to consider the approach to and funding of continuing professional development.
