Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, with reference to Executive Order on Imposing Sanctions on Certain Persons Destabilizing Sudan and Undermining the Goal of a Democratic Transition, published by the President of the United States of America on 4 May 2023, whether he is taking steps to (a) support the preparation of, (b) complement and (c) mirror sanctions imposed by the United States of America as a result of that Order.
The UK Government does not speculate on future designations as to do so could reduce their impact. Our immediate priority is to work with our international partners, including the US, to ensure a cessation of violence across Sudan, and secure humanitarian access. All parties to the conflict must uphold their responsibility to protect civilians and ensure humanitarian assistance can be delivered quicky and safely.
