Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, if will bring forward legislative proposals to require satellite navigation operators to update their software to illustrate real-time restrictions for motorists.

Whilst the Department has no powers to direct satellite navigation operators, we are considering proposals to digitalise traffic regulation orders which would mean up-to-date and accurate information on restrictions is available for satnavs and other products provided by the transport technology sector. We consulted on this in 2022. The Government’s response should be published shortly.
