HM Treasury holds policy responsibility for all taxation, including diesel taxes.

Ministers and officials hold regular discussions with the automotive sector on a range of issues, including the temporary supplement applied to new diesel vehicles from April 2018.

The government has a long-standing partnership with the sector to ensure that the UK builds on its record of global competitiveness and remains a world leading centre for new manufacturing technologies.
