Railways: Electrification

Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, with reference to the Answer of 19 December 2016 to Question 57210, how many miles of electrified track will cover lines in (a) northern England and (b) elsewhere in the UK.
Network Rail’s Railway Upgrade Plan for 2017-2018 breaks down work they will be completing, including electrification works, in areas across England.

The Office for Rail and Road’s rail infrastructure, assets and environmental Annual Statistical Releases also provide data on the extent of rail electrification. Their 2015/16 report can be found at this link:
The ORR will publish its next annual statistical release in October 2017.
