Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what recent assessment he has made of the progress made in meeting the target number of work permits to be issued to Syrian refugees in Jordan under the EU-Jordan compact.
The 2016 EU-Jordan compact set a target of 200,000 work permits to be issued to Syrian refugees in specified sectors. Since January 2016, the Government of Jordan has issued 121,307 work permits to Syrian refugees, allowing them to work legally in specific jobs.
