Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what assessment he has made of the adequacy of access to cancer screening for people from the LGBT+ community.

Local NHS services have a duty to ensure that their services are as accessible as possible for their local populations and that any appropriate support is in place. An example is the cervical screening programme, which as well as being accessible through general practices is also accessible through sexual health services.

In 2021, a national marketing campaign to improve uptake of cervical screening had a key focus on supporting LGBT+ people to come forward. We have developed information for all transgender people to inform them about what screening they are eligible for. This information is available at the following link:
