Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, whether his Department has made changes to the contract status of local staff employed by the Sudanese Embassy since 15 April 2023.

Sudanese staff were placed on Special Paid Leave at the outset of conflict in April. We are in discussion with the Country Based Staff Association on the future posture of the Embassy. This may lead to exits if there is not a sustainable way to continue employment of Country Based Staff.
