Moving into suitable accommodation will help those relocating and resettling to rebuild their lives in the UK, put down roots, gain employment, and have reliable access to public services like education and healthcare. The government has provided £285 million of new funding to local authorities supporting the Afghan resettlement schemes. This includes £35 million of new funding to enable local authorities to provide increased support for Afghan households to move from hotels into settled accommodation and a £250 million expansion of the Local Authority Housing Fund to help councils to source homes to house Afghans currently in bridging accommodation.
