Question to the Department for Science, Innovation & Technology:

To ask the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, what assessment the Government has made of the implications for its policies of the decision of the President of the United States not to attend the 2023 Al summit.

The United States has strongly welcomed the government’s plan for the first global summit on AI Safety and has committed in the Atlantic Declaration to attend at a high level. This week, my Rt. Hon. Friend the Secretary of State launched the start of formal engagement prior to the summit as Jonathan Black and Matt Clifford, the Prime Minister’s Representatives for the AI Safety Summit, have begun discussions with countries and some frontier AI organisations.
