Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, how many and what proportion of buildings in the NHS estate that were built in (a) the last five years and (b) since 2010 contain reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete.

Reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) was used in public sector buildings in the United Kingdom from the mid-1950s to the mid-1990s. There are no known buildings in the National Health Service estate built since 2010 containing RAAC.

NHS England has issued guidance for trusts nationally on how to establish the presence of RAAC in their estate. There is ongoing engagement with trusts on a national and regional level to ensure RAAC is identified across the NHS estate.
