Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what fuding from the public purse was provided to support (a) infrastructure on each rail route and (b) each rail franchise in each of the last 10 years.

The Department does not hold the information at rail route level regarding funding from the public purse provided to support infrastructure.　 This is a matter for Network Rail and the Member may wish to contact Network Rail's Chief Executive at the following address for information relating to her request:

Figures for 2005/06 and earlier years were produced on a different basis to those from 2006/07 onwards, so are not directly comparable.
