Question
To ask the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, how many households in (a) the UK, (b) England, (c) Scotland, (d) Wales and (e) Northern Ireland are off the mains gas grid.
In 2012, it is estimated that there were approximately 2.83 million households in Great Britain that did not have access to the gas network; 2.21 million of these households were in England, 0.44 million in Scotland and 0.20 million in Wales.
Data on gas connections in Northern Ireland, and data on the number of households within 500 meters of the gas grid, are not held by DECC.
