Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, pursuant to the Answer of 29 June 2026 to Question 11670 on Business Rates, whether her Department has assessed the reasons for the rises in business rate receipts in (a) 2025-26 and (b) 2026-27.

As Minister Dan Tomlinson’s answer of 29 June 2026 to Question 11670 notes, Business Rates receipts are forecast independently by the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR).

The OBR have set out the factors driving changes in Business Rates receipts across the UK in the Economic and Fiscal Outlook report (March 2026), paragraphs 3.31 to 3.32.
