Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what formula his Department plans to use to determine the increase in rail fares for 2024.
This question was answered on 20th October 2023
The Government is considering a variety of options for changes to rail fares in 2024 and we will announce our decision in due course. However, we have announced that we will continue to protect passengers from cost of living pressures and will not increase next year’s rail fares by as much as the July RPI figure.
