To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how many foreign-trained doctors have claimed asylum in the last five years.

The Asylum screening and routing: caseworker guidance instructs caseworkers to record details relating to the asylum claimant’s level of education and occupation in their screening record. However, this information is not held in format suitable for reporting at a large scale, as it would be recorded as free text. Therefore, this question could only be answered at disproportionate cost as it would require a manual trawl to count specific professions.
