Government currently has no plans to introduce a system of national registration and as such has not made any detailed assessment of the cost of such a system. Government is instead focussed on tackling rogue landlords. In April 2018, using powers under the Housing and Planning Act 2016, we introduced a national database of rogue landlords and letting agents. We are committed to making this database publicly accessible as soon as parliamentary time allows.
