Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what recent assessment he has made of the adequacy of the number of affordable turn up and go rail tickets available to passengers.

We have been clear in the Plan for Rail we want to simplify fares and tickets, whilst protecting affordable turn up and go tickets and season tickets. There is a wide range of affordable tickets on offer for passengers travelling by train, including “turn up and go” tickets such as off peak and super off peak tickets that offer significant discounts and can be bought right up to departure.
