A minimum standard of mobile connectivity is not currently specified when letting rail franchises but the Department for Transport is committed to working with industry partners, such as Network Rail, in developing mobile connectivity and has recently awarded franchises on TSGN and Essex Thameside which included improvements in this area as proposed by the winning bidders.
