Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what statistics his Department holds on the use of fixed penalty notices in each local authority area.

Defra has not collected statistics on the use of fixed penalties by local authorities since 2008/09. Data from previous years can be viewed at: www.data.gov.uk.

Since 2009 the Environment Agency has issued 71 fixed penalty notices for offences under the waste Duty of Care and the hazardous waste regulations.
