Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:
To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, whether she has any plans to introduce minimum welfare requirements for keeping pet rabbits.
The Animal Welfare Act provides a comprehensive legal framework for the welfare of pet animals such as rabbits. Therefore, we do not currently see a need for a statutory code of practice for rabbits. Owners and potential owners can obtain specific advice on the keeping of rabbits on request from rabbit welfare and other animal welfare organisations.
