The Government has mandated Health Education England (HEE) to provide national leadership on education, training and workforce development in the National Health Service. HEE will work with healthcare stakeholders to influence training curricula as appropriate.

Healthcare providers have a duty to invest in the training and education of new staff. Employers should support healthcare professionals to prioritise the quality of care, be compassionate, safety-conscious and genuinely listen to their patients.

Local Education Training Boards provide the forum for securing the development of the whole health workforce and have a role in ensuring employers remain committed to continuing professional development.
