Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, with reference to the request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 of 10 February 2014, reference F0001198, for what reasons the Maritime and Coastguard Agency cannot attribute incidents to any particular Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre.

The instances whereby Coastguard incidents cannot be attributed to any particular Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) are caused when an incident is created with no attendant position.

These may be inland incidents where a MRCC was advised but not involved, such as the use of a Search and Rescue Helicopter for a non-maritime task, or where an incident was logged with no certainty of the position of the casualty.
