Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:
To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what estimate she has made of the number of stray dogs in each of the last three years.
Defra does not keep a record of the total number of stray dogs. However, according to the annual Dogs Trust survey there were an estimated 126,000 stray dogs handled in 2011; 118,000 in 2012; and 111,000 in 2013.
