Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, whether his Department has discussed the building of a new Chinese Embassy in London with the Chinese Government by HM Government since July 2024.

The planning decision on the proposed Chinese Embassy at Royal Mint Court was taken independently by the then Secretary of State for Housing, Steve Reed. Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office officials speak regularly with the Chinese officials about a range of issues.
