Question to the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero:

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, pursuant to the answer of 15 June 2026, to Question 7167, on Nuclear Power: Regulation, where there will be (a) primary or (b) secondary legislation to deliver the reforms in the Fingleton Nuclear Regulatory Review 2025, and whether this will include amendments to the assimilated EU law of the Habitat Regulations.

In our response to the Nuclear Regulatory Review the Government set out that we will deliver the reforms through a combination of legislative and non-legislative measures. In the King’s Speech we announced a Nuclear Regulation Bill. Further details will be set out in due course.

The Government remains committed to protecting and enhancing nature and the Habitats Regulations and Species Regulations 2017 play a vital role in protecting internationally important wildlife sites by ensuring that development does not harm the most valuable and vulnerable species and habitats
