Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what steps he is taking to clarify to local authorities their powers relating to unintended consequences to neighbouring parking spaces in relation to planning permission to install a dropped kerb.

The Department for Transport has no current plans to issue new guidance to local authorities on the provision of dropped kerbs. Local authorities are already expected to give consideration to local circumstances, including local parking and traffic management requirements, when determining applications for dropped kerbs.
