The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has published cancer service guidance which outlines how healthcare services for people with skin tumours, including melanoma, should be organised. In May 2010 NICE issued a partial update to the guidance, including new recommendations on the management of low-risk basal cell carcinomas in the community.

NICE is currently developing a clinical guideline on the assessment and management of melanoma, which is currently planned for publication in July 2015.
