Question to the Cabinet Office:

To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, with reference to the letter from the Independent Adviser on Ministerial Standards to the Prime Minister of 5 September 2025, whether the Independent Adviser took steps to ascertain that additional specialist tax advice was not received.

The Independent Adviser’s advice to the Prime Minister regarding the Rt Hon Angela Rayner MP and the fact-finding exercise undertaken was published on 5 September 2025 and is available on GOV.UK.

As set out in the Independent Adviser’s terms of reference, “Information provided to the Independent Adviser for the purposes of their functions is provided in confidence” (paragraph 4.2).
