Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what her policy is towards making a contribution to Operation Triton; and if she will make a statement.

Operation Triton is run by the European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External Borders of the Member States of the European Union (Frontex). The UK can support Frontex operations in an advisory capacity only, as we are not participants of the Frontex Regulation.

Frontex sent out an open call to Member States to support Operation Triton for the months of November and December. The UK has initially agreed to deploy a Border Force Officer to carry out advisory and debriefing work in support of the operation during November. We are keeping the situation under review.
