Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how many days have been lost to long-term sick leave (a) in total and (b) for reasons related to mental health in each police force in each of the last three years.

The Home Office is currently undertaking work to improve the quality of statistics on the number of contracted hours lost to sickness absence. We will write to the MP with the confirmed data when this work is complete. A copy of this letter will be placed in the House Library.

The Home Office does not collect breakdowns of this data by reason for sickness absence.
