Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what steps his Department and agencies are taking to ensure alternative provision for people unable or unwilling to use digital services.
The Department remains committed to providing multiple channels for access to its services to ensure they are available to people who remain either unable or unwilling to use digital services. It does so whilst being mindful of reducing the cost to taxpayers by encouraging the take-up of digital services to as wide a group of users as possible. It does this by making them as easy-to-use as possible in conformance with the Government Digital Service’s Digital-by-Default Service Standard published on GOV.UK.
Before going live every Digital by Default Service developed by the Department for Transport is also required to make sure appropriate Assisted Digital (AD) support is in place to extend the reach of digital services.
