Question to the Ministry of Defence:

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, how long is technology classed as novel before it no longer qualifies as part of the Department's budget for novel technologies.

We have not placed an arbitrary timeframe on when technology is classed as novel. What qualifies as novel technology, and the resultant projects which contribute to our novel technology commitment will be reviewed regularly to ensure we are funding the technological innovation to keep the Integrated Force at the forefront of warfare.
