Tourism: VAT

Question to the HM Treasury:

To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, pursuant to the oral contribution of the First Secretary of State of 26 June 2017, Official Report, column 342, if he plans to consult on the effect of VAT on tourism in (a) Cornwall and (b) the rest of the UK.

The government has previously considered the case for a UK wide VAT reduction for tourism related activities.

All taxes are kept under review and we remain open to fresh evidence and to further engagement on the effect of VAT on tourism.
