Question to the Ministry of Defence:

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what progress he has made on building closer ties with Turkey since the Strategic Defence Review.

Türkiye is a key NATO Ally and an important defence and security partner for the United Kingdom. Since publication of the Strategic Defence Review, the UK and Türkiye have continued to strengthen bilateral defence co-operation, including through the signing of the UK-Türkiye Security and Defence Partnership at the NATO Summit in Ankara in July 2026. The Partnership provides a framework for enhanced co-operation across defence, security, and defence industrial priorities. We also continue to work closely with Türkiye through regular military-to-military engagement, established bilateral dialogues, and within NATO in support of Euro-Atlantic security and beyond.
