I met leading energy and climate change experts to discuss the opportunities and challenges presented by China’s transition to a low carbon economy when I visited China in July. More recently, I gave a keynote speech on Carbon Capture Usage and Storage in the Chinese Pavilion at COP24, where I also met Sun Zhen, Deputy Director General at the Ministry of Ecology and Environment. The Foreign Secretary’s Special Representative for Climate Change met with a range of Chinese ministers and officials in late 2018. Additionally, my officials, in particular through our Embassy in Beijing, regularly engage on climate change with their Chinese counterparts.
