Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, how many GPs there were in England on 1 November 2014.

The Health and Social Care Information Centre annual workforce census provides data on the number of general practitioners (GPs) working in the National Health Service in England. The latest information is for the 30 September 2013 and shows there were 36,294 GPs working and training in the NHS.

The next annual workforce census, reflecting the position as at 30 September 2014, will be published on the 25 March 2015.
