Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health, if he will request that the Advisory Committee on Cervical Cancer Screening will hold a further review of the evidence relating to risks and benefits of cervical screening in women under 25.
As part of the United Kingdom National Screening Committee (UK NSC) review process, policies will be reviewed on a three year cycle, unless any peer reviewed papers publishes since the last review prompt the Committee to review the policy sooner. The last UK NSC review of cervical cancer screening was undertaken in 2012 and it is expected that the next review will be in 2015. There are currently no plans to ask the Advisory Committee for Cervical Screening to review the evidence to screen women under 25.
