Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health, whether his Department plans to implement the new draft guidelines for type 1 and type 2 diabetes produced by NICE.
This question was answered on 6th January 2015
The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is currently developing four pieces of guidance relating to diabetes and it is anticipated they will be published in August 2015.
Whilst NICE clinical guidelines are advisory, healthcare and other professionals in the National Health Service are, however, expected to take them fully into account when exercising their professional judgement.
