Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what funding has been agreed for the HIV prevention programme for how many years following the end of the current contract; on what basis the future of that programme was decided; what consultation process was undertaken; and if he will make a statement.
The Department awarded the Terrence Higgins Trust (THT) a contract totalling £6.7 million over three years for HIV prevention for those groups at increased risk. The contract will end in March 2015 and we are currently in discussions with THT about extending their contract for a further year for 2015-16. Spending decisions beyond 2015-16 will be considered as part of the next Spending Review.
