Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:
To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what assessment she has made of the effectiveness of the Pet Travel scheme in allowing owners to take dogs and cats abroad; and if she will make a statement.
The EU pet travel scheme (Regulation (EU) No. 576/2013) has made it easier and cheaper for pet owners to travel with their pets and return to the UK. Under the scheme pet dogs, cats and ferrets can enter the UK from any country in the world without the need for quarantine provided they meet the strict requirements for entry from the part of the world from which they are travelling.
