The Environment Agency keeps records of large raised reservoirs with a capacity of more than 25,000m3 of water above natural ground level. No relevant information is held centrally on reservoirs below this capacity.

Since 2005, 167 large raised reservoirs have been built in England, and 120 large raised reservoirs are currently being either altered or constructed. The Environment Agency does not hold records of large raised reservoirs in the planning stage.
