Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, if he will review the issue of competing rights arising from the recent case in West Yorkshire between a woman with a pushchair and a wheelchair user in terms of the priority when seeking to use a designated bay on buses.
The Government is committed to ensuring that disabled people have the same access to transport services and opportunities to travel as other members of society, and we will continue to work with operators to achieve this.
The Department for Transport is also following the legal case on wheelchair-space priority involving First Bus Group and Mr Doug Paulley closely, and will study the court of appeal’s recent judgment in detail.
